GAME STORY
by Mike Gastonguay (sportsWIRE)

When you have a Cinderella story like the UMass Lowell Riverhawks, you might expect a happy ending. But this is Hockey East, anything can and will happen here and it did happen to Lowell.

The game started off in favor of the underdogs as Lowell was the first to strike with a goal by Tom Rouleau. The defense did their best to keep the game fairly even with Jimi St. John coming up with some huge saves in the first and second periods.

The "shift of power" in goaltending came in the second period as UMass Lowell put 23 shots on BC's senior goaltender, Scott Clemmensen, none of which passed the goal line resulting in a new Hockey East tournament record for saves in a single period.

The focus of the third period was offense, and plenty of it. Chuck Kobasew completed his hat trick and BC's scoreboard recieved help from Ben Eaves and Hobey baker Canadiate, Brian Gionta.

With a 4 goal defecit, UMass Lowell's "Cinderella Story" ended with their glass slippers turning into rusty skates and their bus turning into a pumpkin.
